Solutions to Common Faults of Paint Spray Guns

Solutions to Common Faults of Paint Spray Guns

Most of the problems in spraying are caused by paint accumulated in the nozzle or loose parts. If the paint spray gun fails, how to solve it? The following common failure symptoms and cause analysis may help you solve the problem.

1. Too dry spray marks of spray gun, splashing droplets, or no paint spraying

The vent on the lid of the paint cup is blocked.

Some paint spray guns have air vents on the lid of the paint cup designed with a drip-proof hose device, while others are just open air vents. Open air vents need to be cleaned frequently. Although the drip-proof hose also needs to be cleaned, it is not easy to block. The dry paint accumulated in the vent or hose can be cleaned up with a brush or toothpick, and can be soaked in thinner if necessary.

2. Air bubbles appear in the paint cup, or there are splashing droplets around the nozzle of the spray gun

Air leakage, generally speaking, air leakage occurs at the air hose interface, just tightening the locking ring is enough. If the threaded connection is loose, air leakage may also occur. At this time, the thickness of the dry tape wound on the thread can be appropriately increased.

3. The pattern sprayed by the spray gun cannot form an oval but becomes a sausage shape

The paint accumulates at the nozzle of the spray gun, which blocks the air holes on one side, so the air is only sprayed from one side, making the sprayed pattern bend to the blocked side.

This problem may also occur if the nozzle is installed incorrectly. Remove the nozzle and soak it in thinner. Blocked air holes can be cleaned with toothpicks, but metal tools must not be used.

4. The pattern sprayed by the spray gun is heavier at one end

Paint accumulated around the nozzle or installation error, this problem may also occur if the nozzle of the spray gun is loose. Remove the nozzle, soak it in the thinner and wipe it dry. Be careful not to loosen it during installation.

5. The center of the pattern sprayed by the spray gun is heavier

Too much paint is sprayed, or the paint is too thick. Reduce air pressure or increase paint flow; dilute paint.

6. The pattern sprayed by the spray gun is cracked, or the sides are heavier and the middle is lighter

The air pressure is too high and the paint flow is too low. It is also possible that you are spraying a thinner paint and the pattern is too wide. Reduce the air pressure or increase the paint flow; if the paint flow has been opened to the maximum, the area of the spray pattern can be reduced. If this problem occurs, you should start over and adjust the paint spray gun completely.

7. Spray gun paint sprays intermittently

The paint in the paint cup may not be enough, or the industrial paint gun may be tilted too far and the siphon tube sucked in air; the paint may be too thick to be sprayed with this paint spray gun.

Check whether the siphon tube is loose or cracked. Look for all the gaskets on the paint spray gun for aging or not tightened. Keep 1/2 to 2/3 cups of paint in the paint cup. Do not over-tilt the paint spray gun and expose the siphon to the air. If there is dry paint on the gasket, it must be washed and replaced if necessary.

Clean the siphon tube regularly: remove the paint cup cover and the siphon tube on the paint spray gun, use a thin brush soaked in the thinner to pass through the siphon from the top of the siphon to scrub, and repeat with the clean thinner many times.

Regular lubrication: When you need to loosen the threaded connection part for any reason, you can add a little lubricating oil to the thread by the way. This will not only ensure easier disassembly, but also make the thread tighter.
