Solutions to Common Failures of Auto Spray Guns

Solutions to Common Failures of Auto Spray Guns

If the auto spray gun is not cleaned thoroughly after the long-term use and not used and maintained properly, which causes the air or paint passage to be blocked or if the aging gasket and spring are not replaced in time, which causes the spray gun to leak air and paint, there will be some failures during spraying:

1. The shape of the spraying width is inclined to one side of the center of gravity

Reason:

  • The center hole of the air cap or the atomization hole is blocked.

Countermeasures:

  • Clean the atomization cap;

  • Replace the atomization cap.

2. It is inclined to the left or right

Reasons:

  • The fan control hole on one side of the air cap is blocked;

  • The air cap is damaged.

Countermeasures:

  • Clean the atomization cap;

  • Replace the atomization cap.

3. The center of the spray width is too thick

Reasons:

  • The viscosity of the sprayed paint is too high;

  • The spraying pressure is too low;

  • The nozzle diameter and thimble increase and decrease due to wear.

Countermeasures:

4. Split in the spray width

Reasons:

  • The viscosity of the paint is too low;

  • The spraying pressure is too high;

  • The inner diameter of the fan control hole is too large;

  • The paint is not enough;

  • The atomizing air passage is blocked

Countermeasures:

Increase the viscosity of the paint;

Lower the spray pressure;

Replace the nozzle set;

Add enough paint;

Clean the air passage of the auto spray gun

5. Jumping the gun

Reasons:

  • The nozzle is not tightened or installed;

  • The thimble seal kit is loose;

  • The connecting nut of the spray gun is loose (the lower pot spray gun);

  • The paint in the pot is insufficient;

  • The nozzle set is damaged.

Countermeasures:

  • Tighten the nozzle or clean and install the nozzle set;

  • Tighten the thimble seal set;

  • Tighten the connecting nut;

  • Replenish paint;

  • Replace the nozzle set.

6. The spray width is heavy in the upper or lower part

Reasons:

  • The air outlet of the nozzle, thimble or air cap is blocked by debris;

  • The air cap or nozzle is damaged.

Countermeasures:

  • Clean the nozzle set;

  • Replace the nozzle set.

7. No paint or a small amount of paint can be sprayed

Reasons:

  • The air replenishment hole of the spray gun pot lid is blocked or the air cap and the suction tube are seriously blocked;

  • There is no paint in the pot;

  • The thimble stroke is too small.

Countermeasures:

  • Clean the air replenishment hole, air cap and suction tube on the pot lid;

  • Replenish paint;

  • Rotate the adjustment knob of the paint flow to increase the stroke of the thimble valve.

8. Leakage of paint at the spray gun nozzle

Reasons:

  • The thimble sealing nut is too tight;

  • There is foreign body inside the nozzle port;

  • The nozzle and the thimble are not matched or damaged;

  • The thimble return spring is broken or not installed.

Countermeasures:

  • Loosen the thimble sealing nut;

  • Clean the nozzle;

  • Replace the spray gun nozzle set.
